It's been proven time and time again through statistics, anecdotes, and basic observation that a well trained dog is a happier dog and is less likely to end up in a shelter. It's important to train and socialize dogs throughout their lives to keep them happy, social, and predictable. Call us today to find out how we can help you and your dog(s).
Puppy PreSchool
Raising a puppy takes a lot of hard work and consistency. Often times we're too busy to dedicate the time and effort necessary to set our puppies up to succeed. That's why Country Haven Kennels offers Puppy PreSchool - where you can drop your pup off for the day either at a daily rate or a discounted 5-day "work week pass" rate and we'll take care of the frequent walks, feeding, socialization, and basic training that your puppy needs during the time s/he is here. Other things we're able to offer that perhaps your puppy has never experienced include the sights, scents, and sounds of all different kinds of dogs and people and situations they may encounter in the future. Our Puppy PreSchool is located next to our grooming area, so puppies will be exposed to the different sounds of a grooming salon as well. Puppy PreSchool takes place in a small room in the Kennel office with large crates and access to a securely fenced pen for potty and play.
*A word about bringing puppies to places heavily trafficked by other dogs: Puppies' immune systems develop at varying rates. Many puppies successfully handle exposure to many other dogs in dog parks, pet stores, vet offices, and kennels with no issues, but there is always a risk when taking a puppy out that they may be exposed to germs in the environment. Country Haven Kennels is a very clean kennel and we use the best sanitizing and cleaning products on the market, but this only helps a little bit. We ask that each puppy owner discuss the benefits vs. the risks for their puppy with their vet prior to bringing them to the Kennel.
*We always require that guests (of all ages) be up to date on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Kennel Cough vaccines. Please call us with any questions.

S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization * Training * Activity * Responsibility
Come learn how to raise a STAR puppy and start your puppy off on the right paw in our six-session small group classes!
S.T.A.R. Puppy Graduates wishing to continue their education may consider getting their CGCs (see below)
AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program
The CGC test is a nationally recognized standard for well mannered dogs and responsible owners. It is the foundation for many Therapy Dog service testing as well as other countries' similar programs. According to AKC's link, 34 states have even made special resolutions for CGC Certified dogs.
